The Academy of Oscars has lifted the veil on the last 5 films in the running to win the precious golden statuette: The red suitcase, a film directed and produced by Luxembourger Cyrus Neshvad ( Cynefilms ) will compete for the Oscar of the best fictional short film ( Best Live Action Short Film ).

The film was entirely shot at Luxembourg’s Findel airport in 6 days in 2021 and produced in Luxembourg by Cynefilms.
Synopsis: Luxembourg Airport. Late in the evening. A 16-year-old veiled Iranian girl is afraid to take her red suitcase on the automatic carpet. She keeps pushing back the moment to go through the arrival gate and seems more and more terrified.
The announcement of his appointment made Cyrus Neshvad overjoyed: “My thoughts go out to the Iranian women who are currently fighting for their rights and their freedom. I hope my short film can help raise awareness around the world for their cause.”
The best masterpieces of the 7th art will be designated in Hollywood on March 12 at the 95th Oscars Ceremony .
The short film The Red Suitcase will be screened at the next Luxembourg City Film Festival in March 2023.
In addition to The Red Suitcase , Cyrus Neshvad has directed 5 short films including Son and Portraitist which have won numerous international awards but also the Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis for best fictional short film in 2018 (Son) and 2021 (Portraitist). He is preparing his first feature film Le refuge which will soon be filming.
